Three of the deadliest fires in California history are ripping through northern and southern parts of the state. With thousands of people and animals displaced, Governor Jerry Brown requested a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration and FEMA granted a state request for emergency aid.
Who has been affected?
Camp Fire
- Northern California.
- Sierra Foothills towns.
- Began on November 8th at 6:30 a.m.
- 109,00 acres.
Woolsey Fire
- Southern California.
- Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
- Began on November 8th at 2:24 p.m.
- 83,275 acres affected.
Hill Fire
- Southern California.
- Camarillo and Simi Valley
- Began on November 8th at 2 p.m.
- 4,531 acres affected.
How to help animals affected by the California Camp, Woolsey, and Hill Fires
- Donate cash. Cash donations can be made through links provided by each organization.
- Donate supplies. Some organizations need supplies. These can be donated via Amazon wish lists or direct drop off at designated addresses.
- Volunteer. Many organizations need volunteers. Duties include shelter support, supply replenishment, animal rescue, foster homes for animals, phone calls, data entry, and client registration.
- Foster and Adopt. With the overflow of animals, organizations are seeking suitable foster and adoption homes. Contact local shelter and rescues to discuss becoming a home for fire victims.

Humane Society of Ventura County
The Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC) has an emergency rescue team on the ground, rescuing animals and bringing them to safety. HSVC also is taking animals that have been displaced by the fires, in addition to finding foster homes for these fire victims.
They are asking for financial donations first and foremost.
In addition, volunteers, foster homes, feed, and water troughs.
Local feed stores have set up accounts to receive donations on their behalf. This allows HSVC to purchase the supplies and feed necessary to house and feed the animals.

Ventura County Animal Services
The Ventura County Animal Services has been working nonstop to rescue animals affected by the fires. Currently, they have around 900 animals, 300 of which are fire evacuated pets. They are providing medical care and shelter to animals that have been burned, lost, or deserted in the fire.

Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation
The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation is offering shelter to animals affected by the Hill and Woolsey fires. The foundation supports the department’s disaster relief and emergency response efforts through Noah’s Legacy Fund. The fund assists with training, supplies, and equipment.

North Valley Animal Disaster Group
North Valley Animal Disaster Group is located in northern California, rescuing and assisting animals affected by the Camp fire.
The organization requires its evacuation volunteers receive demanding training in radio communication, fire safety, the incident command system, and evacuation training. These volunteers are field volunteers that help animals in disaster areas. North Valley has an agreement with Butte County, allowing them to cross police barriers into evacuated areas to assist animals that were left behind.
