22 Days Nutrition Plant Based Meal Plan Review 2021

22 Days Nutrition Plant Based Meal Plan Review: Is It Worth It?

We were excited to try the 22 Days Nutrition Plant Based and Vegan Meal Plan and App. This program was created in collaboration with music icons Beyonce and Jay-Z. We love it because it is simple, affordable, and easy to use. That’s why we named this Plant Based Meal Plan the Most Innovative meal delivery option for 2021!

We’re not the only ones who are excited about this company and app. 22 Days Nutrition has been featured in Shape, W Magazine, People, and E! Online. The Plant Based Meal Plan and App are a new product, backed by a well respected company with an extremely knowledgeable and passionate Founder (see Vision below).

22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan is a DIY app, so expect to do the cooking. If that doesn’t sound great, we recommend checking out the savory vegan meal plans at Sunbasket or Purple Carrot.

Price

| Excellent

We think the price of the 22 Days Nutrition Vegan Meal Plan is excellent. It’s a relatively low cost option for anyone who wants an efficient and hands-on experience with their meals. Read: This means you are the chef. 22 Days Nutrition does not deliver premade heat-and-eat meals.

Variety

| Excellent

One of the biggest advantages of the 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan approach to meal delivery is that the company doesn’t have to warehouse any pre-made meals. You browse the menu, select what you like, and arrange for grocery delivery. This makes menu options extremely diverse, colorful, and savory.

Ease of Use

| Excellent

It could not be easier to sign up and select your preferences. Everything from allergies to cooking experience and kitchen setup is asked up front to create a personalized experience. This feels very similar to the Blue Zones Meal Planner app, which is another option we love.

22 Days Nutrition Pricing Review

The 22 Days Nutrition plant-based meal plan has two subscription options:

  • 3-months, billed $39 quarterly: This plan gives you 3 months of access for $39. That’s just $3.25 per week.
  • 12-months, billed at $99 annually: If you can afford this annual commitment, you save 40% over the course of the year (comes out to $1.90/week).

For this 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan review, we selected the first option at $39 for 3-months of service.

How it Works

First, head over to Mealplan.22daysnutrition.com. From there, you can register an account and select a membership plan. We reviewed the 3-month membership plan for $39, but you can also choose an annual membership to save some cash (billed at $99/year).

Then comes the Personalization step. While you set up your account, you will answer questions to let the app know things like:

  • What your cooking habits are
  • If you have any special dietary needs
  • If you have any food allergies to avoid
  • What your household size is
  • How experienced you are with cooking
  • What kind of appliances you have at your disposal

Using this information, the 22 Days Nutrition app personalizes your account based on your goals and preferences.

Next, the fun begins. This is the Recipes step. Navigate the app to find healthy and delicious vegan/ plant-based recipes. There are over 1,000 recipes and it’s growing continually. Using the 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan app, select the meals you would like to try for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They will be added to your Daily Menu and personalized Grocery Lists.

After all of your meals are selected, you will be able to schedule Grocery Delivery. The great thing about 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan is that the app works with 3rd party grocery delivery services. Instacart, Amazon Fresh, and Peapod are the most common. Using one of these services, you can schedule your grocery delivery for a specific day of the week. Same day delivery is also available, though it may take a minimum of an hour to reach your home. Once ordered, groceries are delivered in insulated boxes to keep them cold & fresh.

Once the grocery delivery arrives, cooking is a breeze. Each individual package of food comes with ingredients for two servings pre-measured along with a recipe card and all cooking instructions. Everything by 22 Days Nutrition is plant-based, gluten-free, non-GMO, hormone free, dairy free… basically free from anything processed and/or nasty for your health.

Finally, it’s important to note that 3rd party grocery delivery may not be available in your area. We recommend checking the Instacart, Amazon Fresh, and Peapod websites to see if they service your city.

If delivery is not an option, you can still use the app and pick up the groceries yourself using the Grocery Lists feature in-store. We opted for the Instacart delivery option, but we reviewed the Grocery List feature and think it’s pretty simple and easy to use.

Menu Options and Selection

The 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan app offers 1,000+ vegan/plant-based recipes to choose from. Compared to other services, 22 Nutrition is one of the best in terms of menu options and variety. The downside: You’ll have to cook your own meals. We like to cook, so this wasn’t a big deal for us.

But if you don’t know to cook, you may want to check out another popular vegan meal delivery service that offers “pre-made” meals. Our top picks for those kinds of services are Sunbasket and Purple Carrot.

For the culinary-adventurers out there, 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan is a joy to use. We believe it is at the top of its class when it comes to meal variety, flavors, and selection. Various recipes are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it easy to find meals that resonate with whenever you like to eat.

We tried the Black Bean and Avocado Burger, Sloppy Joes, and Lasagna-Inspired Penne. These are the 3 recipes 22 Days Nutrition features on their website, and they looked too delicious to resist. Even better, they reflect the diversity of available recipes. Penne and grain dishes for bigger appetites, savory soups and crisp salads for lighter fare. As we browsed the app, it seemed like there was something for everyone.

One thing that’s worth repeating: During the sign-up process, we were asked about our preferences, allergies, available cooking appliances, and more. It only took a few minutes to complete, but it was totally worth it. That information aligns your menu with your preferences, which is one of the many reasons we ranked 22 Days Nutrition as the Most Innovative Vegan Meal Delivery service of 2021.

Delivery Review

The 22 Days Nutrition app uses Instacart, Amazon Fresh and Peapod to deliver groceries. We chose Instacart because it’s our go-to grocery delivery service and we like that they use personal shoppers (not warehouses) and schedule deliveries for a specific day of the week. If you don’t like any of your options, you can always do a same day delivery.

We like to cook on weekends, so we scheduled our delivery for a Saturday afternoon. In addition to weekend meals, we also included a couple breakfasts that we thought would be quick to cook on Monday and Tuesday morning.

Our first 22 Days Nutrition grocery delivery arrived around noon. The insulated box kept the ice packs cold and the food fresh during transport. Everything was packaged neatly in a box with labels that included instructions, recipes, and serving size.

One thing that feels nice about 22 Days Nutrition is that the ingredients are all sourced from local grocers. That’s a big deal, because it means you’re likely to get super fresh produce for all your meals. If you’re new to plant-based eating, you need to understand that fresh produce is a must– it can make or break many recipes, especially ones that are simple (like salads and bowls).

Meal Experience

Fresh ingredients, organized packaging, and easy-to-follow instructions. These things set the tone for a really fun experience. Especially for those who want to learn to cook vegan/plant-based meals, the entire process simple and exciting. Rather than piecing things together from different blog articles, cook books, and handwritten grocery lists, everything gets consolidated into one single app experience.

Remember the personalization questions that were asked at sign-up?

Those are like guide rails, making sure your every option you see on the app is aligned with your dietary preferences, avoids known allergens, and makes use of whichever cooking appliances you have.

Flexibility Review

Rather than using meal kits or pre-made vegan meals, 22 Days Nutrition is a true plant-based meal delivery service. Since the company doesn’t have to worry about producing meal kits themselves, there are a TON of recipes to choose from. If you can whip it up using fresh ingredients from local grocers, there’s a good chance it’s on the app.

Although you are not completely in charge of your own order, you can choose which days of the week you want to receive deliveries. Same day delivery is also available. Reviewing the 22 Days Nutrition app, selecting specific recipes, and scheduling delivery is a flexible way to “meal plan” while also reducing waste.

22 Days Nutrition also caters to your preferences. If you don’t feel like cooking one day, you can skip a delivery. And if you want to stick with the plan for a full 22 days but need more food, they offer higher quantities of certain items for a reduced price.

The only downside we found is that 22 Days Nutrition doesn’t appear to offer a gluten-free recipes category, but it’s likely because they focus on fresh produce which is naturally gluten-free.

One thing to note: It isn’t immediately clear on the website how pausing or renewing your subscription works. So, expect to be automatically charged if you do not cancel your membership. That’s $39 every 3-months if you chose the Quarterly plan, or $99 every year if you chose the Annual plan.

However, the 22 Days Nutrition Customer Service phone number is clearly posted on the website (617-718-5426). Even better, they have a Live Chat feature on their website that customers can use to get quick answers about billing, subscriptions, etc.

Although we’d like to see specific membership terms on the landing page, we always felt comfortable knowing that customer service was just a quick call or chat message away.

22 Days Nutrition App Review: The Bottom Line

We awarded the 22 Days Nutrition App the Most Innovative vegan meal delivery option for 2021!

Personalization, ease of use, pricing, variety and sustainability are just a few of the reasons we would highly recommend the vegan/plant-based 22 Days Nutrition program to anyone.

The 22 Days Nutrition Meal Plan app provides all the recipes with shopping lists included, which makes cooking very convenient. We were able to make delicious meals like plant-based penne, vegan Sloppy Joes, and Black Bean and Avocado Burgers.

The ingredients are affordable and easily found at most grocery stores; we didn’t need any fancy or hard-to-find ingredients. But even if you do, most can be found on Amazon or other culinary websites. Just be sure to order from a retailer with good reviews.

As we said earlier, this plant based meal delivery option is great for anyone who likes to cook, or at least wants to learn. If that doesn’t sound like you, we recommend going with a service that offers equally delicious pre-made vegan meals like Sunbasket or Purple Carrot.
